Filmmaker and photographer from Hafnarfjörður, Iceland
active since 2018 when he co-founded the filmmaking
collective Helluland with his friends.
He graduated in photography from Reykjavík Technical School in 2020 and will graduate with a BA degree in film directing and editing from the Icelandic University of the Arts in spring 2026 with his thesis film RBBRTOY2000.
Brynjar is a sensitive storyteller with a knack for pacing and mood. His unending passion and drive is coloured by nearly a decade of making films independently as an editor, cinematographer, producer and director. Major inspirations include Tarkovsky, Lynch, Kieslowski, Varda, Bergman and the Coen brothers.
His producing, editing and DOP work has been awarded multiple times. Joy Box, Holes, Disco Island and The Dairy Tapes all received top prizes at small local festivals in Iceland and
In Rythm swept the fiction category at Stockfish International Film Festival's Shortfish competition in 2025.
His second year directing work from IUA Marteinn was screened in the Icelandic Shorts section in Reykjavík International Film Festival in 2025.
